One day on the Southern point in Canada

EN: Point Pelee National Park was the first national park established for conservation in 1918 in Canada and it is located on the foundation of glacial sand that goes into Lake Erie.

Almost one hour drive from Windsor is a great space to reconnect with nature. If you want to hike, to cycling, to take the footpaths, drive, to relax and swim on the beaches areas or just to have a nice picnic, the park facilities got you cover 😉!

EN: Point Pelee is also Canada’s second – smallest national park but it is the most diverse national park, so keep your eyes open because you can find a variety of wildlife from wild turkeys, deers, turtles, birds, snakes, butterflies! I admit except the butterflies and lizards I couldn’t see any other animals, but the vegetation is lush and probably they are hiding! Next time!

EN: Some important stops are the Marsh Boardwalk, DeLaurier Homestead and the Tip trail.

  1. The Marsh Boardwalk is 1 km loop in the marsh and its home for the lily pads, turtles and a forest of cattail! If you are brave you will enjoy the sound of the birds and the whistling of the cattail mats! So peaceful!
  2. The DeLaurier Homestead is a meting with human history from the First Peoples through to farmers, fishermen, and cottagers.
  3. At the end is our Tip Point the southern point in mainland Canada. To rich this point, you can walk 2.5 km from the visitor center, to ride a bike or just wait for the shuttle service… Lazy me, don’t judge, getting old 🤪!
