EN: My last trip this year is back to one of my soul city, after 6 years I was able to see again Lisbon! A city who doesn’t lose the charm, the beauty but actually improve it.

My first visit was in a winter-spring season and I guess you already read the stories on the blog and now I was back at the begging of December, the most expecting month of the year! That means for me this is the present that I get from Santa Claus! I definitely want to say a big thank you to him:)!

EN: The journey was short, only 3 days and I wasn’t able to visit everything obviously, but I did more than I thought, especial with not a sunny weather.

Do you want to start?! Let’s see Lisbon again and be caught with her beauty!

RO: Excurisa a fost scurta, numai 3 zile si nu am putut revedea tot evident, dar in cea mai mare parte am realizat tot ce mi-am propus, in special pe o vreme nu chiar insorita.

EN: Lisbon is dressed up in her Christmas clothes and it is full of tourists. I have to admit that 6 years ago I didn’t see so many tourists like now, but I am very happy that people get in love with the city. The giant Christmas Tree is waiting for you and also the Christmas Markets!

EN: I  start the journey visiting  the Mirador of SENHORA DO MONTE, in Graca neighborhood  from were you can see the Sao Jorge Castel and also the spectacular view above Lisbon, the Tagus River, the 25 Abril Bridge, I guess this name doesn’t say nothing but I will let you now that is the bridge who is similar to the Golden Gate Bridge from San-Francisco, now it is all clear up:D!

EN: A short stop for a snack is always a good choice especially with so many pastries around, so don’t go in Lisbon if you are on diet:)) you can’t say no to the desserts! A coffee and a “Pasteis de Nata” and ready to go!

by Ada@

EN: The modern art like graffiti is all over the walls in the streets and do not forget the “azulejos” tiles so keep your eyes open.

EN: The night is coming too soon in this winter days but this doesn’t stop me to keep exploring. The traditional Portuguese music is fado and a must in your journey is to visit Alfama which is one of the oldest districts of Lisbon and is a delightful maze of narrow cobbled streets and ancient houses.  Originally, Alfama was situated outside of the city walls and was associated with poverty and squalor, where only the poor and disadvantaged resided. As Lisbon grew into an important port, the district retained its lowly status as the tough and deprived district where sailors and dock workers lived. Today, Alfama has shrugged off its grim reputation, being transformed into a fashionable artisan district, while still retaining its character and dilapidated charm. Stop in one of the restaurants and enjoy the fado live music! Also if you want to feel like a local stop in the bars for a drink and snack and always ask for the local ones, they are delicious!

EN: Like I was saying the days in winter are short and after this cold and cloudy first-day tour, I think it was the time for a Portuguese dinner and a good rest for the second day of adventure.

  • the 6th picture is a traditional dish: grilled sepia with boiled potatoes seasoned with raw onion and olive oil / mancare tradionala: sepie la gratar asezonata cu ceapa cruda si ulei de masline

EN: My second-day start with a good sunny weather and an awesome view from the top of Amoreiras Shopping Center, so keep in your mind this because you get a 360 view of Lisbon.

EN: A must place to revisit for me was the Belem district and the iconic place of “Pasteis de Belem” with their delicious tarts and also the Church Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, The Belem Tower. I will let the pictures to talk about how beautiful it is this district.

Voi lasa pozele sa vorbeasca despre frumusetea acestui cartier.

EN: For the first time in my travel, I tried something new, I attended to a  football game between Benfica team and Estoril team on the Estadio da Luz Stadium and for me was fun! I don’t know nothing about football games in general but I liked the atmosphere from the stadium,  I guess I should try it more often!

EN: After this long day, a good meal is a must, so try the restaurant  Casa da India, despite the name, Casa da Índia (House of India), is a traditional and cheap restaurant with a Portuguese menu. The name refers to an organization that managed Portuguese trade in overseas goods, like spices, mainly in the 15th and 16th centuries.  Absolutely delicious!

If you are in the area don’t miss the Bairro Alto bars for a drink and understand the nightlife in Portuguese style!

Absolut delicios!

Daca sunteti in zona nu ratati  barurile din Bairro Alto pentru o bautura si ca sa intelegeti viata de noapte in stil portughez!

EN: For my final day of the trip, I kept Cascais town in mind and was great. Cloudy but not raining so perfect for a little stop to “Boca do Inferno” Portuguese for Hell’s Mouth is a chasm located on the seaside cliffs. Cozy, charm, beautiful, relaxing city so that was wonderful for a breath after this 3 days full and congested.
