EN: This historic city was the capital of the Principality of Moldavia from 1564 to 1859, then of the United Principalities from 1859 to 1862, and the capital of Romania from 1916 to 1918 and Iasi has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Romanian social, cultural, academic and artistic life.

RO: Acest oras istoric a fost capitala Principatului Moldovei intre anii 1565-1859, apoi a Principatelor Unite intre anii 1859-1862 si capitala Romaniei intre anii 1916-1918 , iar Iasi a fost in mod traditional unul din primele centre de conducere ale vietii sociale, culturale, academice si artistice romanesti.

RO: Casa pentru cea mai veche universitate din Romania si pentru prima scoala de ingineri, Iasul este unul dintre cele mai importante centre de educatie si cercetare din tara. Viata sociala si culturala se invarte in jurul Teatrului National Vasile Alecsandri (cel mai vechi din Romania), Filarmonica de Stat a Moldovei, Opera, Ateneul din Iasi, faimoasa Gradina Botanica ( cea mai veche si mai mare din Romania), Biblioteca Central Universitara ( cea mai veche din tara), centre culturale si festivaluri de inalta calitate, o serie de muzee, case memoriale, monumente istorice si religioase.

EN: Iasi features historical monuments, 500-year-old churches and monasteries, contemporary architecture, many of them listed on the National Register of Historic Monuments. Notable architecture includes the Trei Ierarhi Monastery, part of the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Site, or the neo-Gothic Palace of Culture, built on the old ruins of the mediaeval Princely Court of Moldavia.

RO: Iasul ofera monumente istorice, biserici si manastiri vechi de 500 de ani, arhitectura contemporana, multe dintre ele inscrise in Registrul National a Monumentelor Istorice.  O arhitectura notabila include Manastirea Trei Ierarhi, parte a listei de incercari  Patrimoniulul UNESCO, sau a stilului neo-gotic al Palatului Curturii, construit pe  vechile ruine ale curtii medievale Moldovenesti.

EN:   One of most iconic edifice is the Trei Ierarhi Monastery , a seventeenth-century monastery. This was the home for the first printing press in Moldavia and the Vasilian College, a higher education institute. In 1643, the first volume ever printed in Moldavia was issued in Iasi.

RO: Unul dintre cele mai iconice edificii este Manastirea Trei Ierahi, o manastire din secolul al 17-lea. Aceasta a fost casa primei tipografii din Moldova si a Colegiului Vasilian, un institut de invatamant superior. In 1643, primul volum tiparit in Moldova a fost emis in Iasi.

EN: The heart of the city it is the Palace of Culture an impressive building  which  served as Administrative and Justice Palace until its destination was changed, being assigned to the four museums nowadays united under the name of Moldavia National Museum Complex. Also, the building houses the Cultural Heritage Conservation-Restoration Centre, and hosts various exhibitions and other events.

The Palace has 298 large rooms and the Clock Tower is the central architectural piece of the palace. The clock faces are decorated with stained glass representing the 12 astrological signs. Two young men dressed in national costumes, are painted on the sides of the clock faces guarding the clock.  The Carillon in the tower has 8 bells that are singing each hour the Union Hora song with the help of a drum with 69 pins.

Inside hosts four museums located in the Palace of Culture: Art Museum, Moldavia’s History Museum, Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia, and “Ștefan Procopiu” Science and Technique Museum.

RO: Inima orasului este Palutul Culturii o caldire impresionanta, care a servit ca Palatul Administrativ si de Justitie pana cand destinatia sa a fost schimbata, fiind repartizata celor 4 muzee din zilele noatre unite sub numele Complexul Muzeal National al Moldovei. De asemenea, cladirea gazduieste Centrul de conservare-restaurare a patrimoniului cultural si gazduieste diverse expozitii si alte evenimente.

Palatul are 298 de camere mari si Turnul cu Ceas este piesa centrala arhitecturala a palatului. Fetele ceasului sunt decorte cu vitralii reprezentand cele 12 semne astrologice. Cei 2 barbati tineri imbracati in costume nationale, sunt pictati pe partile laterale ale ceasului ca si gardieni al acestuia. Carlionul din turn are 8 clopote care canta la ora exacta Hora Unirii cu ajutorul unui tambur cu 69 de pini.

In incinta palatului se afla cele 4 muzee: Muzeul de Arta,Muzeul de Istorie a Moldovei, Muzeul Etnografic al Moldovei si Muzeul Stiintei si Tehnicii “Stefan Procopiu”.

EN: Iasi is the city of seven hills so prepare yourself to walk to discover his beauty !

Near the Palace of Culture is the oldest church in Iasi, Saint Nicholas Church was founded by Stephen the Great in 1492. In the city you can find more than 100 church old and new with their on characteristics like: Metropolitan Cathedral is the largest of its kind in Romania; Golia Monastery; Galata Monastery; Cetatuia Monastery; Armenian Church; an old and new Catholic Cathedral; Great Synagogue is the oldest surviving synagogue in Romania and one of the oldest in Europe.

RO: Iasul este orasul celor 7 coline asa ca pregateste ca sa-i poti descoperi frumusetiile!

In apropierea Palatului Culturii este cea mai veche biserica din Iasi, Biserica Sfantul Nicolae care a fost fondata de Stefan cel Mare in 1492. In oras poti gasi mai mult de 100 de biserci noi sau vechi fiecare cu caracteristicele sale: Catedrala Mitropolitana, cea mai mare de acest gen din Romania, Manastirea Golia, Manastirea Cetatuia, Biserica Armeneasca, vechea si noua Catedrala Catolica, Marea Sinagoga cea mai veche sinagoga care a supravetuit din Romania si una dintre cele mai vechi din Europa.

EN: This city has so much to offer with the fascinating buildings and the history behind them so let him to get all your attention. Other significant buildings are: “Vasile Alecsandri” National Theatre; Dosoftei House were bishop Dosoftei settled the second typography in Moldavia; Roznovanu Palace ( today represent The City Hall) which during World War I, it hosted the Romanian government;  Pogor House was the meeting place for the city intellectuals, the headquarters of Literary Society Junimea (1863) and of the Convorbiri Literare (Literary Interlocutions) magazine (1867).

RO: Acest oras are asa de multe de oferit cu fascinantele sale caldiri si cu istoria din spatele lor, asa ca lasa-le sa iti fure toata atentia. Alte caldiri semnificative sunt: Teatrul National Vasile Alecsandri; Casa Dosoftei unde episcopul Dosoftei a asezat cea de a 2-a tipografie din Moldova; Palatul Roznovanu ( astazi primaria) care pe durata primului Razboi Mondial a gazduit Guvernul Romaniei; Casa Pogor locul de intalnire pentru intelectualii orasului, sediul  Societatii Literale Junimea (1863) si al revistei Convorbi Literale (1867).

EN: After so many information you should drink a wine, do you agree ?? Iasi county is famous also for the wine, has nearby, the  village of Cotnari and dating from 1448, are among the most famed in Romania, producing four to six million bottles of sweet white wine a year and exporting to the US, Canada, England, Italy, Spain and Japan, among others. Legend says Stefan cel Mare, someone who undoubtedly knew his wine, described it as ‘wine given by God’. So if your interested you can participate to  wine- tasting sessions at The Cotnari Winery.

RO: Dupa asa multe informatii ar trebuii sa bei un vin, sunteti de acord?? Regiunea Iasului este faimoasa si pentru vin, in apropiere este satul Cotnari care incepand cu anul 1448 se afla printre cele mai renumite podgorii din Romania producand 4 pana la 6 milioane de sticle de vin alb dulce exportand in US, Canada, Anglia, Italia, Spania si Japonia,printre altele. Legenda spune ca Stefan cel Mare, cineva care, fara indoiala, stia vinul sau, la descris ca “vin dat de Dumnezeu”. Deci, dacă va interesati, puteti participa la sesiuni de degustare de vinuri la The Cotnari Winery.

EN: In Iasi was open the first memorial museum from Romania in 1918, as the Ion Creanga Memorial House and also the Natural History Museum, founded on 4 February 1834, is the first museum of this kind in Romania with over 300,000 items, the most valuable being the collections of insects, mollusk, amphibians, reptiles, birds, plants and minerals.

Not to bad for a city that you just discover it?!

RO: La Iasi a fost deschis primul muzeu memorial din Romania in 1918, acesta fiind Casa Memorial Ion Creanga si de asemenea Muzeul de Istorie Naturala, fondat pe 4 Februrie 1834, primul muzeu de acest gen din Romania cu peste 300.000 de articole, cele mai valoroase colectii fiind cea de insecte, moluste, amfibieni, reptile, pasari, plante si minerale.

Nu prea rau pentru un oras pe care abia il descoperi?!

EN: Don’t leave Iasi before you visit the Copou Park especially in a autumn day, you will be fascinated by the colors of leaves and don’t miss the Eminescu’s Linden Tree is a 500 year old silver lime and enjoy and relax in the Botanical Garden of Iasi, the first botanical garden in Romania, which is beautiful all year around, but my favorite season is summer because the roses are blooming and they are amazing!

RO: Nu plecati din Iasi fara sa vizitati Parcul Copou in special intr-o zi de toamana, vei fi fascinant de culorile frunzelor si nu rata Teiul lui Eminescu un tei de argint vechi  de 500 , bucurati-va si relaxati-va in Gradina Botanica din Iasi, prima gardina botanica din Romania, care este frumoasa pe tot parcursul anului, dar sezonul meu favorit este vara deoarece trandafirii sunt infloriti si sunt minunati!
